Annual Report 2015/16
Read the Healthwatch Annual Report for 2015-2016. The report gives an overview of our work over the year, describes our key achievements and how we have made a difference to local health and social care services.
Key achievements from the year included:
- Having a significant influence on the development of a strategy to improve mental health care for young people through increased staffing levels and a greater role for the voluntary sector
- Improvements to care homes and recognising good practice where we found it
- Improvements to GP Practices including helping one local practice to identify and put a stop to the activities of a counsellor operating fraudulently from their practice
- Improvements in Discharge from Hospital and recognition of our work in this area nationally
Our year in figures
- 950 people reached through visits to 38 community groups and 1 public event
- 22 Enter and View visits to 3 care homes, 1 hospital and 9 GP Practices
- 15 reports published into Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, discharge from hospital, GP practices and residential care homes, leading to direct improvements and highlighting good practice
- 150 people accessed signposting support enabling them to find the care and information that they needed
- 250 opportunities for engagement, volunteering and consultation promoted to 1,500 people through 68 bulletins and newsletters
- 40 external committees received regular attendance from Healthwatch representatives which enabled us to champion the interests of the community
